Short-Term/Transient Rentals

The Board has elevated all overnight rental authorizations to a use permit approval, except a single unit in a multi-family residential complex (such as a condo complex) in the Commercial Lodging High (CL-H) land use designation. The Mono County Community Development Department are currently working on new regulations. Subscribe to RPAC, Planning Commission, and Board of Supervisors agendas to be notified of any discussions on the matter.

Overnight rental authorizations in multi-family residential (MFR) land use designations (LUDs) are no longer being granted as an existing non-conforming use. All overnight rentals in MFR LUDs are subject to the standards listed in the designation.
